Aster Yellows

Aster yellows causes your plant to stunt, turn yellowish-green, and the flowers will brown. The plant will eventually die from this fungus. Symptoms will vary with each plant because of the different strains of phytoplasmas. These are bacterial-like, but they lack rigid walls. The organism will overwinter in insects like leafhoppers, and the disease will pass from the insect to the plant when the plant feeds.

To control this fungus, destroy the infected plant immediately. There isn’t anything you can do about this once the plant has been infected, and it will spread when other insects feed on that plant and then on your other plants. You’ll also need to implement an insect control system once you’ve destroyed the infected plant.
